We are committed to sustainable campus life and a more sustainable world.
We know that the climate crisis is a comprehensive and structural problem that affects us all.
It is structural because the way we live and do business globally is not sustainable. So far, the measures taken to combat the climate crisis have not been enough, and the UN's 1.5°C target is no longer achievable. That is why it is now more important than ever: every tenth of a degree of further warming that we can prevent counts.
We can already see the effects all over the world, including in Austria—the decline in biodiversity, extreme climate phenomena such as floods and long periods of drought, rising sea levels, environmental pollution, and much more. Nevertheless, we believe that each and every one of us can continue to contribute to combating the climate crisis. Because we have to.
Our motivated team currently consists of Aeron Treiblmayr, Elisabeth Köberle, David Hornsby, Alexander Klar, Natalia Grygerova, and Elias Häfele. We organize events to raise awareness of climate and environmental issues. You are welcome to stop by our information stands. We would also be delighted to see you at one of our events. Below you will find an overview of all our current projects and a list of our planned events for the winter semester 2025.
We are your point of contact for climate and environmental protection issues for students —and, of course, we are always grateful for feedback and input on what you expect from the Climate Department. We want to discuss problems, perspectives, and proposed solutions together.
From time to time, we also host guest lectures, such as the one given in February 2024 by Associate Professor Veronika Wittmann. The lecture, entitled “Global Sustainable Development: SDG 17 matters!”, can be viewed on YouTube.
And in June 2025, we held a pub quiz, which was a cozy and fun evening!

Our current main project: Recipes wanted!
We are looking for sustainable recipes for our recipe booklet! These could be vegan recipes, for example, or recipes that make creative use of leftovers. General tips on saving food are also welcome!
Send us your favorite recipe + a photo of it and/or your best tips for saving and using up leftovers to the Climate Department's email address (below). If you like, we can include your name and/or a photo of you, but this is optional; you are also welcome to remain anonymous if you wish. However, we reserve the right to decide which recipes and tips will ultimately be included in the recipe book.
By the way, it's not too late—we're still happy to receive new submissions! We hope to receive lots of recipes and life hacks from you ;D
