ÖH JKU Climate Department

Our team, Madeleine, Marcel and Elias are committed to sustainable campus life and a sustainable world.
We believe that the climate crisis is a comprehensive and structural problem that affects us all.

Structural because the way we live and do business globally is not sustainable.
So far, the measures being taken to combat the climate crisis are unfortunately inadequate and we cannot achieve the UN's 1.5 degree target.

We can already see the effects around the world - the decline in biodiversity, extreme climate phenomena, rising sea levels, environmental pollution and much more.

Nevertheless, we believe that each and every one of us can make a contribution to counteracting the climate crisis.

We from the ÖH JKU Climate Department offer various information on our channels on various climate and environmentally relevant topics, organize events and information stands and you can also get our free pocket mug for smoking from the ÖH Shop.

You are cordially invited to drop by at the climate regulars' table or at another event. We discuss problems, perspectives and proposed solutions together. From time to time we also have guest lectures, such as in February by Assoc. Univ.-Prof.in Mag.a Dr.in Veronika Wittmann on "Global Sustainable Development: SDG 17 matters!" You can also watch this lecture on Youtube.

Current projects and events on campus:

  •    Fairteiler fridge in the Kepler building near the ÖH office
  •    Book exchange shelf in the Kepler building
  •    Plant and book exchange market in spring 2024
