Department for Economic Affairs

Speaker: Benedikt Hötzender

The ÖH JKU Economics Department is responsible for managing the funds available to the ÖH JKU at all levels. The ÖH JKU is largely financed by the ÖH fees. However, the Economics Department is also responsible for raising third-party funds. This enables the ÖH JKU to offer additional services.

The financial year begins on 1 July and ends on 30 June. Before the start of the financial year, the budget is divided into various fields of activity and levels by means of an annual budget. During the financial year, the task is to monitor the appropriate utilisation of the funds. After 30 June, annual financial statements are prepared for the previous period. This is then audited by an independent firm of auditors to ensure that the student funds have been used properly. In addition to financial matters, the areas of responsibility also include personnel and the financial control of the two business enterprises (ÖH Shop and LUI).

Other tasks include

  • Accompanying financial support for ÖH projects
  • Responsibility for accounting and financial management
  • Negotiation and conclusion of co-operation and sponsorship agreements
  • Forms
  • Contact with the Control Commission (supervisory body of the ÖH)
