Questions about your studies

Study Guidance Days (SBT)

To get your studies off to a good start, it’s often helpful to get advice from older students: There are many important insider tips, especially when it comes to planning your studies, choosing courses, and putting together your course schedule.

That’s exactly why we offer the Study Guidance Days (SBT) before the start of each semester in August/September and February. Here, you’ll receive personalized advice on how to get your studies off to the perfect start from experienced ÖH members in your field of study. No registration is required, just stop by: The dates are always announced in advance via email and Instagram.

Of course, we’re also here to answer your questions outside of the SBTs: Just reach out to your study representation!

Celebrate your Semester Start

ÖH JKU Welcome Day

As part of the start of the semester, welcome events are held to celebrate your arrival and help you get ready. We especially recommend visiting the ÖH JKU Welcome Day: ÖH JKU and the Rectorate will introduce themselves and wish you a warm welcome; you’ll also get to know the various clubs and initiatives on campus, can join a campus tour. You'll also receive plenty of information and a goodie bag - so it’s definitely worth stopping by!

The event usually takes place during the first week of the semester; details will be shared, as usual, via email and Instagram.

ÖH First Semester Tutoring (ET)

Are you looking to make friends and meet great new people while at uni? We've got you covered: Every semester, ÖH JKU organizes the First-Semester Tutoring Program for all first-semester students.

Specially trained ÖH tutors organize various recreational events and exciting activities on a wide range of topics for you: From bouldering to scavenger hunts and puzzles to pub crawls - there’s something for everyone. Pick a group whose program matches your interests, and then meet up weekly, completely voluntarily and in a relaxed atmosphere, of course. It’s the perfect way to make friends, form study groups, and- naturally - also a great place to ask all your questions and solve problems at the start of the semester.

The various groups will present their programs at the ÖH JKU Welcome Day, but you can also find their presentations online and join a group at a later date.
