Department of Student Counseling

Who are we?

The ÖH Linz Student and High School Graduate Advisory Service is divided into two main areas of responsibility: advising high school graduates and advising students.

What do we do?

When advising high school graduates, we provide students with advice and support on all matters related to studying. In order to do this as effectively as possible, we visit schools to discuss all the options available to students after graduation and to answer any questions they may have. On request, we also hold information events at Johannes Kepler University, which we conclude with a campus tour so that students can see the university premises for themselves.

In terms of study counseling, we provide students with advice and support. Here we answer questions such as: Am I insured through the ÖH? Can I get psychological help from the ÖH? And can I take an exam with a broken hand? These are all important questions to which we provide answers! For study-specific questions, you can contact your student representative! Not sure how to reach them? Then getin touch with us! We will give you all the necessary contacts you need.

To expand this service, we work closely with the team at the Psychological Student Counseling Service in Linz. They offer free, anonymous, and comprehensive psychological counseling and support for all areas of your life, not just study-related problems. You can find more information about this comprehensive service here.

As part of our academic advising services, we also offer a plagiarism check for your work. How does it work? You can find all the information here.

Important Events

ÖH JKU Welcome Day

This is where all new students are welcomed to JKU. That means: campus tours, introduction to the rector, and first-semester mentoring.

Study counceling days

Once per semester (usually shortly before the start of the semester), the ÖH JKU offers a study counseling day, where one person from each student representative body is available to answer any questions you may have about your studies.

First-semester Mensaparty

Each semester, the Student Counseling Office organizes a cafeteria party at the beginning of the semester.
