How To: Login to the Physics Cloud

The physics cloud of the StV Physik&MoBi is the collection point for lecture notes, scripts, old exams and transcripts for all courses that are somehow relevant to the physics programme at the Johannes Kepler University, as well as for all other materials and documents that you have found useful during your studies! Included are all physics degree programmes, i.e. Technical Physics (Bachelor), Physics (Master) and Biophysics (Master).

To get access to the cloud, and thus to the wealth of knowledge of past years, as well as the possibility to share your own collection, you have to send us an e-mail with the subject [Registration Cloud] to physik-cloud(at)oeh.jku.at.
The mail should contain

  • your full name
  • your matriculation number (k + 8-digit number, e.g. k12345678)
  • an e-mail address.

The latter must already be linked to a Google account or be linked to one afterwards in order to gain access to the data. It does not necessarily have to be an "@gmail" address .

Once we have added you, you will receive a confirmation from us and an email to the linked email account. Due to the fact that the cloud is organised 100% by volunteer students, there may well be waiting times during processing. We ask for your understanding! If you would like to support us with the cloud or have other ideas on how we can support physics students at the JKU, become part of our team and contact us directly at physik(at)oeh.jku.at!

Good to know:

  • There is an upload folder so that the collection of documents on the Physics Cloud remains up-to-date and can also grow. In this folder you can provide us with resources and documents that you collect over the semesters. We will then add these to the cloud. In the upload folder you will find a HowTo document that explains which documents are relevant for the cloud, which we do not want to collect there and how you should name them before uploading them so that we can categorise them as quickly as possible. Please be sure to read this before uploading!
  • Your access to the cloud is active (after activation) as long as you are enrolled
  • The ÖH TNF is not liable for the content offered on the cloud.

Important events

Physik & MoBi

Get together

Our get-together takes place once a month and includes various events such as movie nights in the lecture hall, pub quizzes, and similar activities. If you’d like to spend a casual evening with your fellow students and get to know students from higher semesters, then come join us!

You can find the dates and activities for the get-togethers this winter semester on Discord or via email.

Celebrate together

Welcome parties/StV BBQ

The beginning and end of the academic year must be celebrated!

That's why we're inviting you and the department's teaching staff to the welcome party in the Mensakeller in autumn.

With free food (also vegetarian & vegan) and drinks, you can get into casual conversation with fellow students and lecturers.

But we won't let you down in the summer semester either!

Before the exam stress begins, you can relax at the StV BBQs with cool drinks and delicious grilled food (including vegetarian and vegan options) and enjoy the evening with fellow students.

Your start to your studies

Introduction week in physics

During the introduction physics week, which usually takes place in the week before the start of the first semester, you will get to know your new fellow students for the first time. You will also get an overview of the physics programme at the JKU, meet your first professors and get a taste of university life. The most important thing about the introduction week is the networking between you students, but this week also offers a good opportunity to brush up on (advanced) A-level maths material and get to know the excercise mode.

Not only will there be a get-together on the first afternoon with free drinks, on Friday we also invite you to enjoy free food and drinks to round off the week in a relaxed atmosphere with your new colleagues and professors.

All information about the introduction week and registration can be found here.

All information about your bachelor thesis

Bachelor info evening

Every year in January we organise the Bachelor's information evening for all 5th semester students and interested 3rd semester students. Here you will get all the information about the formalities of a Bachelor's thesis. You will also have the chance to get to know two institutes better during guided tours and of course there will be plenty of time to ask questions to potential future Bachelor's supervisors. With free food and drinks, you can then round off the evening in a relaxed atmosphere with fellow students and members of the institute.

What are we currently working on?

Planning introduction week in physics
in Umsetzung

As in previous years, the Physics introduction Week (September 28–October 2) will take place again this year for all prospective students (Physik, NaWi-Tec, Lehramt Physik).

Planning winter semester
in Umsetzung

Of course, the traditional welcome party will take place again this winter semester. We’re also currently planning many more exciting events, and we look forward to seeing you there.

Creating an FAQ

We're currently working on an FAQ so you can find answers to all common questions at a glance. Of course, you can also reach us by email at any time if you have questions.

Representation in ÖH Committees
in Umsetzung

Within the ÖH, we discuss issues and plans with the Study representation and work together to plan a wide variety of events.

Representation in JKU Committees
in Umsetzung

The JKU committees deal with curricula, the appointment of new professors, habilitation procedures, and general issues affecting the TNF.
