Here you will find descriptions of some of our more important events.
However, we do not organise our biggest events alone, but together with other student representatives of the TNF. For example, our JKU Games, the TNF barbecue, punch stands, the ESC watch party, the Dodecathlon and more - take a look at the page of our faculty representation to learn more!
Some of our events also require coordination with the entire university representation in order to involve as many students as possible. For example, the Eval Day to boost the LVA survey response rate, our blood donation campaign or our free HIV test events.
You will of course be informed about all events via Discord, we'll also send you an invitation via email for some of our bigger projects. You can subscribe to our event calendar to always stay up-to-date!
Below, you'll find a selection of some of our events!
Once a month, we organise a Computer Science Regulars' Table ("Stammtisch") in the evening!
We meet in one of the nearby student bars where you'll get to talk about your studies and can get to know your fellow students in a cosy atmosphere. The student union will pay for your first drink!
Of course, there is also a large selection of non-alcoholic drinks and snacks to satisfy your hunger, so it's definitely worth a visit!
Sometimes we combine the Stammtisch with a special event: We also invite your lecturers, organise a pub quiz or ask a company to give a presentation on their research.
At the beginning of the winter semester in October, we always celebrate our welcome party! Enjoy an evening of free drinks and food: In recent years, for example, we have served home-cooked (vegan) chilli and meat loaf sandwiches or sausages.
In the run-up to the exam phase in the summer semester , we want to give you a break and therefore invite you to the StV-Grillerei! We'll provide you with free, but all the more delicious barbecue food and drinks: our regional organic farmer will provide us with high-quality chops and sausages, while our vegetarian and vegan guests can enjoy delicious patties or meat substitutes.
In addition to your fellow students, we also invite your lecturers, so you can forgive even the most difficult exam over a cool drink together :P
It's definitely worth a visit!
In addition to our major networking events, we also offer guidance events: At the end of each winter semester, for example, there is a Bachelor's information evening for higher-semester students!
We give you a checklist of what you need to consider on the way to your Bachelor's degree and invite representatives from your institutes to give a brief presentation of their current research topics. This will help you in finding a topic for your Bachelor's thesis and give you the opportunity to talk to potential supervisors!
We also offer a graduation tutorial for our Master's students: At the Master's info event, you will find out what deadlines need to be observed and how to put together an examination board.
There is also a guidance service for first-semester students (SBT) and, of course, our weekly consultation hours. We will keep you up to date when another event is coming up!
We also organise numerous other events on an irregular basis, for example
As you can see, there's always something going on!
We hope to see you at an event soon!
Some of our events are attended by a large number of students. To ensure that everyone feels comfortable, we make use of Awareness Teams - always recognisable by their magenta-coloured vests!
If you need a time-out at an event, if a guest becomes abusive or if you simply need someone to talk to, the awareness team is there to help. Our team members are trained and take your concerns seriously: together we will find a solution!
Our teams are also equipped with an Awareness Box: It contains hygience products, earplugs, fidgets, tissues, information brochures and more, just talk to us!
If you would like to report an incident after the event, you can also do so via our Confidential Contacts.
