Merit scholarships and study grants

Merit scholarships are awarded in recognition of outstanding academic achievement.

A merit scholarship may not be less than € 750 but not exceed € 1,500 for two semesters. Merit scholarships can also be awarded in addition to a study grant. You can only apply for a merit scholarship once a year, usually in October, using the online application. The minimum requirements, required documents, and application deadlines are outlined in the call for applications.

Study grants serve to help fund unfinished academic and scientific work (Diploma degree theses, Master's theses and doctoral dissertations) that are a required part of an academic degree program. The grant is intended to help supplement the costs incurred to prepare the groundwork and the costs that are not covered by the supervising institute's budget or by other sources.

A study grant may not be less than € 750 but not exceed € 3,600. Study grants can also be awarded in addition to a merit scholarship.
