ZIMMER

Two rooms will get free in this WG, one on December 1st 2024 and one on January 1st 2025.

The first (room 1) is very well proportioned: It has a width of 3.17 m and a lenght of 6.09 m (= 19.31 m2). Adjacent, there's the neighbours' flat who are a small family and whose child can sometimes be heard. The room has four power outlets and for its window a mosquito net is available.

The second (room 3) is 6.12m (side) times 2.67m (front) which gives an area of 16.34 m2. To establish equality, room 3 has an anteroom of 4.24 m2 such that the resident's total area is 20.58 m2. Room 3 is the quietest of all three flat rooms. It has seven power outlets and a socket to receive Austrian Television. The walls were repainted over the summer. The large wardrobe in the anteroom can be paid off to the previous resident and a multicolor lamp and a desk might be taken over as well.

The anteroom is separated from the hallway by a beautiful paravent. It could be used, for instance, to have a wardrobe, keep one's shoes or store suitcases there.

Both rooms have a high ceiling (3.11m) which allows for high cabinets and gives them an old Austrian flair. They have a magnificent view of the futuristic JKU Science Park and the forests and fields of the Green Belt Linz, which is to be under conservation soon. Due to this location, there is always fresh air. Therefore, there are gadgets to keep the window or the door open. But also, both rooms can be darkened by outside blinds; room 1 additionally has inside blinds. The wooden floors were waxed recently and both rooms have door keys. Both rooms are facing north-east which has the advantage that they won't be heated up significantly in hot weather. Thus, sleeping is a bliss. However, you can let the sun wake you up in the morning.

LAGE

The transport connections are optimal: At the other end of the building is the reversing loop for trams 1 and 2, which form the main axes of public transport in Linz. By them one can be at Linz's main square in a good quarter of an hour. There are bus stops for local and long-distance transport just as far away. There is also the option of renting a resident parking space, either outdoors or in an underground car park (approx. 50 to 100€/month). Outside the building there are both short-term parking spaces and free parking spaces.

Dornach-Auhof is characterized by the JKU. Since its upgrade about five years ago, their campus has grown to a considerable size and is still growing. This means that there are a variety of leisure options in this area: volleyball, table tennis, outdoor climbing hall, etc. Culturally, the KHG cellar bar is worth mentioning, where jazz concerts, openings or theater performances take place. It should be noted that there are a large number of events, meetings and parties on campus during the semester. There is a swimming lake nearby, and an extensive grid of paths invite to take a walk in the surrounding hills.

The nearest shopping options are a tobacconist in the same building, an organic supermarket, the Spar flagship store on campus, a drugstore, a penny market and finally the conventional supermarkets Billa and Hofer. Restaurants: A Chinese restaurant opened again in the building this year, there is a pizzeria, a hip sausage stand, a kebab restaurant and various fast food restaurants. Linz city center has a lot more to offer though in terms of cultural and gastronomic offerings.

WG-Leben

The Aubrunner WG is a wonderful place to live. I, graduate student of AI, take care of its functioning so that you have a clean, beautiful environment to live and thrive in.

The flat is spacious, cool and quiet, and there's everything you need for a good life: Coffee machine, well-equipt kitchen, comfortable dining table, washing machine and dryer, huge bath tub, a dyson-lookalike vacuum cleaner, a sweet but slightly bored neighbour's cat and a tremendous lighting system (to be installed). And if the cleaning schedule works out, we have a clean home. It's also safe in the sense that you have physical integrity but also that no harassment whatsoever is tolerated. Each resident has a neat room to himself or herself. And if everyone's lucky, you have two flatmates that are good folks and that you can form a community with. Since this shared apartment is internationally oriented, you can make acquaintances and exchange views with people from other countries that might come here as guests. You can also invite friends or family and let them stay for holidays if you take responsibility for them.

At the same time, there are three principles to be valued in order to establish such a place. The most important rule is that after use, anything must be left as clean as it was before. This refers mostly to the kitchen: The oven, the stove, the toaster, the board, the table, the bench etc. have to be cleaned such that they're as clean as before cooking. But it also refers to the laundry room, the bath room, the bath tub, the sink, the toilet seat, using the toilet brush, the vacuum cleaner and all other tools.

The second principle is that in one's own room, any audio signal must be kept so low, that in the flatmates' rooms, it cannot be heard. In order to turn up the volume, the flatmates approval is required.

And third, with anything a resident does the flatmates must be taken into consideration. If a problem arises, we can talk it out and find a solution together.

I am also looking for communicative people who like some small talk about what's going on as well as some deep conversation over a drink. There should be a wish to get to know the flatmates and starting a conversation sometimes such that it's comfortable to live with each other. I would like the Aubrunner WG to be a community, even though it's sometimes hard to find the time in between studying and working.
